Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Hi dsanchez why my email didn't notify me you replied to me? Yet my email notify me about other comments that are not replies to me. Yes they received my application Nov 12. On Dec 11 they phoned to tell me the guarantor is supposed to sign the ID photocopy but I accidentally signed it. Dec 13 my guarantor faxed them her signature with my ID. Feb 14 I phoned them for status update and they told me the fax did not come through clearly. I ask why they don't tell me the fax was not clear and they said they phoned me on Jan 23 to inform me about the unclear fax. I told them I received no phone call from passport canada on January 23 or any day whatsoever (since Dec 11) and I said I have call display and call history on my iphone and I got no phone calls from passport canada. So they told me they phoned me on jan 23 which is 40 days after my guarantor sent the fax but also they never actually phoned. So Feb 17 my guarantor sent them another signature with my ID copy but this time she mail it because we don't trust the fax. March 17 I phone for status update and they said they don't receive any mail from my guarantor yet even though it has been 30 days since she mail it. So I told them that I will ask my guarantor to visit service canada office and hand deliver her signature with my ID copy. My guarantor told me she do it this week.

Why didn't you mail the signed photocopies? Now your situation is clearer. The delay is excessive, but it seems there is a miscommunication.

So I had an in-person passport application appointment yesterday and I don't have a guarantor. I submitted the required statutory declaration in lieu of a guarantor form signed by a commissioner of oath and had to provide 4 references in total, 2 of whom have Canadian passports and with whom I've worked for about 5 years in two different places - they are not really friends, more like formal colleagues that I'm not close to (while they agreed to be my references I'm not 100% sure they would be willing to provide their passport info in order to be my guarantor).

When the agent looked at my application he asked if any of the 4 references are Canadian - those two former colleagues are and like I've explained I've 'known' them for about 5 years but not close or or on 'friendly' terms with them, at which point the agent asked, "Did you try asking them?". I answered no to which he replied that my application will be refused because I've known at least two Canadians for 5 years but don't have a guarantor. I told him I didn't know that I was automatically disqualified for a passport just for that reason (that I know at least one Canadian for 5 years yet that person couldn't or wasn't willing to be my guarantor), he said he was informing me of that reason now as my agent. I replied that I do not think I can be refused for that reason and if I were refused I would be taking legal action because I've followed the procedure for people who don't have a guarantor to the letter. He then made copies of my airline ticket then said to give him a minute, he came back after about 30 seconds and said he just explained my 'situation' to his 'supervisor' (like wft? is it even a 'situation' if I don't have a guarantor but did everything according to the rules, i.e, commissioner of oath and 4 references) and they told him my application will be refused if I submit it. I said I would go ahead and take my chances, when he gave me a pick-up date and my payment receipt I asked him if I will be contacted should my application be denied, he said 'oh yeah they'll call you'.

I dunno but I found my whole interaction with him really odd. Has anyone who applied without a guarantor experienced anything like this? He did say it's a different department that handles these no-guarantor applications. I wonder if they get some sort of bonus for every regular application (with guarantor) that they process which would explain why he kept pushing me to apply with a guarantor (at one point he even said he would give me another in-person appointment this week itself if I can convince one of my former Canadian colleagues to act as my guarantor). Any input or feedback will be appreciated.

I would have asked one of my colleagues to be a guarantor. The interaction was odd, but you were also confrontational. I don't know if they can legally refuse your application, but it makes sense to ask your Canadian colleagues to be your guarantor first, at least to me.

24 hours is an urgent passport pickup with extra $100 and a proof of emergency.

Hi All, i sent my passport application to their mailing address in Missisauga, Ontario address as i am from British columbia and the form said to mail the application to that address.
I can see on canadapost tracking that it got delivered on March 4th. But so far there is no update on my application. My credit card has not been charged either. Is this normal? Can someone please share their experience?

It takes 2-3 weeks to charge your CC. You are still within the range

I agree. But if you sent your documents xpress post, and the tracking system says they were delivered, it probably means everything is OK

one concern that i have is I didnot know that everyone sends their application to the Quebec Address... I actually sent it to their Mississauga address mentioned in the application form which said for people from British columbia needs to send to that address as I live in BC.
I am not sure if I did right or not.. as here I havent heard from anymore sending to that address..

I have a couple questions..1)If my credit card was charged can I assume there are no problems with the application? 2)How long after your credit card was charged, will you receive your passport? 1- we can assume there are no problems, no one knows
2- could be 1-2-3 weeks
3- just mailing time, no difference

What's a tracker? You mean tracking number of your documents? If yes, when did you send the update request for which you received the tracking info?

If they told you it will be refused, why go ahead? Wouldn't it be easier and faster for you to just ask a colleague or a friend? That said, I hope they don't refuse and it all goes well for you, though.

It's just that agent's opinion that I would be refused, his entire demeanor and the way he acted was hostile, unpleasant and pushy from the first moment - I'm inclined to believe he was bullshitting, also I'm currently self-employed and it's not that easy to meet up with former colleagues who were not really friends to have them sign my application. Thanks for your input, if they refuse my application on that basis I guess I'll look for a guarantor then but not before appealing and taking legal action if necessary.

Not if I've done everything that's required of applicants with no guarantor, which is to have a commissioner of oath sign a statutory declaration and provide two additional references (4 references in total). I'm waiting to hear of the formal reason if I'm denied so I can take the appropriate legal measures.

9-10 days after receiving the tracking number? I thought tracking numbers are generated when they send out the documents. Can you track the documents online, or they are still inactive?
