Has anyone else gotten that OOC email? The one where they say "we have noted that you wrote the Citizenship Test from outside Canada." And ask for return information?

I got this email in February and said I planned to go back in April for the Oath since I originally thought they'd likely invite me in Spring. I was hoping they'd try to accomodate for April, since I mentioned that works best for me as I am abroad completing a master's. Otherwise, I would have to wait until after I graduate in September. However, I have heard nothing from them.

Has anyone had anything happen after this email? What happened? My application has had nothing happen since September when I passed my test and it is ridiculous how slow they are!

They will not accommodate you and probably won't invite you to the oath until after you submit a proof you returned to Canada.

So they sent you an email asking if you were in the country? I guess said you weren't. Did they reply back or they just send you an interview invitation? How long did it take between those?
They didn't ask. The interview email says if you're not inside, email them immediately so I did. They said it's okay to take interview outside Canada.

So, we are supposed to be in the country for the duration of application process now? I actually took a one year contract job abroad. is this going to affect my application?

If you take the test from outside Canada, there is a good chance they will ask you to provide a proof of return to Canada in order to schedule you for the oath.

Oh... That's not quite what I was talking about. They are sending that OOC template email to some people just wanted to see if anyone's gotten any progress since the email

Not sure. My application seemed to be moving and I've been gone since August 2021 (studying for abroad for a year). I thought they emailed me because I should have gotten an oath invite by now (took test way back in September of 2021) and perhaps the email was an indication that they were finishing. (Note that for whatever reason my Background and Language are still somehow not completed after all this time and taking the test). In any case, I added some questions in my reply, but I doubt they'll reply. So checking if anyone actually got progress after that template email they sent. I saw some guy in the forum who got the email in February, but no one else... I can't find his posts anymore but as far as I know he didn't have any progress either and he got the email a month before I did.

I guess to answer your question: I think your application will move, but as you reach the end (oath stage) they might put you on hold until you return? Which is what I am trying to confirm here to see if anyone's gotten progress after that email or they just keep you on hold until you say you are back.

I got an email from IRCC requesting to send them the passport copy and proof that I am in Canada.

As I took my Test outside of Canada in October 2021.
Urgent Request 1: March 1 2022
Urgent Request 2: March 21 2022

I am in USA due to some health issues so requested for Urgent processing over a months ago no reply since then and send the request again yesterday.

Today got an email from IRCC saying some time ago you informed our office you were outside of Canada (As I took my test outside of Canada) to continue to process your citizenship application, we need you to send the passport copy along with arrival and departure evidence WHEN YOU ARE IN CANADA.

Questions:
1. does this mean my urgent processing request is accepted?

2. How long will it take for them to work on my application if I go to Canada this week and send the required docs? Assuming my urgent request was accepted AND assuming my UP is NOT accepted.

Anyone else in same situation? Please share any information related.

I see. Thanks for your detailed response. I just got the GCMS note I requested months ago, interestingly, the file location was moved from Registry to Complex! Hope it does not mean anything bad.

Within 1 day they said it's okay to attend interview outside.

Hi! Interesting. Your email is a bit different than mine. Where did you apply? Or which is the office handling yours? I guess maybe the email templates are a bit different based on the office? Mine's the Vancouver office. Similar email but only asked when I thought I'd be back so far.

Based on what you've said, I don't think they have gotten to your request yet. There always seems to be a delay with CIC. And I am honestly not sure how long it'd take. In the forum, a while ago, I saw that some people said it might take a month+ after you return to get invite/scheduled, so I don't think it can be done so quickly unless CIC cooperates with your timeline which is what I was trying to do. :(

I applied from Toronto but got test email & Request Letter from Montreal.
What was the title of your email? and did you take test from outside of Canada too?

I hope to hear positive from IRCC, as the letter has some initials of some officer, unlike others communications I got so far.
