You are very unlikely to be able to find a midwife accepting patients for women who are 6 months pregnant. It is often even difficult to secure a midwife even in your first trimester because the demand far exceeds the supply of midwives and they are more limited in terms of how many patients they can accept. Many women using midwives don’t deliver in hospitals so don’t have nurses and the on call OB to fall back on and need to limit how many potential deliveries they have per week. You should really call around to try and secure a GP versus visiting a walk-in clinic for continuity of care. In general securing a GP for your wife and eventually your child should be a priority. A local GP will also likely know more about what local OBs are accepting patients and typically accept their referrals. At 6 months pregnant appointments are typically monthly for low risk pregnancy so there is time if you have seen your OB before leaving wherever you are currently living. Once you see a GP you can get a referral to an OB.
Thank you for the update.
I am worried now since i know people wait for years to get a family doctor. What are my chances of getting one that can refer me to an OB?
What should i do if it's nearing my wife's due date and i still don't have an OB?
Aren't there protocols for emergencies like this?
