Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is reporting increases in the backlog of citizenship and permanent residence (PR) applications but decreases in the country's total temporary residence (TR) application inventory.

Combining new applications processed with the reduction in Canada's immigration application backlog, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has processed a record-breaking 4.8 million total applications this year.

This marks the smallest application backlog recorded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) since June 1-6, 2022, when the total number of applications backlogged within the system was reported at 2,387,884 persons.
