The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program issued 853 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination in the largest Expression of Interest draw to date, which took place on October 10.

In this invitation round, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) issued 359 invitations to Express Entry candidates with a profile created in its Saskatchewan Expression of Interest (EOI) System pool. The lowest-ranked candidate in the SINP's Express Entry sub-category had a score of 60.

The remaining 494 invitations were issued to candidates in the Occupations In-Demand sub-category. The lowest-ranked candidate invited to apply in that category had a score of 63.

All candidates invited to apply on October 10 had Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to support their profiles.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and are effectively guaranteed an Invitation To Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in the next federal Express Entry draw.

In addition to having an active Express Entry profile, individuals looking to enter the EOI pool for the SINP's Express Entry sub-category must register an online profile and answer questions related to work experience, education and language proficiency in English or French, among other factors. Candidates are then assessed against Saskatchewan’s unique assessment grid, which assigns a score out of 100.

To enter the SINP EOI pool for the In-Demand Occupations sub-category, candidates must score at least 60 points and meet other eligibility requirements, including work experience in a high-skilled occupation found on the province’s In-Demand Occupations List.

The SINP takes the following steps to rank EOI pool candidates:

  1. Identify EOI candidates with the highest point score.
  2. Prioritize candidates with connections to the province. This includes candidates who receive points for having a close family relative in Saskatchewan, past work experience in Saskatchewan, and/or past study experience in Saskatchewan.
  3. Prioritize candidates with the most work experience years declared and the highest language scores obtained.
