Bill C-37, which will amend Canada’s Citizenship Act, was introduced to restore Canadian citizenship to the tens of thousands who lost, or who never had Canadian citizenship because of several little-known particularities in the Act. The Senate recently passed the bill after third reading. It will become law no later than a year following Royal Assent.

According to Statistics Canada, Canada produced 106,900 new jobs in the month of September. Though most of these were part-time positions, this figure is 10 times better than what economists had expected.

Mike Aves, 40, a financial planner in Palm Beach, Fla., where he has been active in the Young Democrats, said he was finding it almost impossible from that distance to land a job in Canada. "I've told my wife, I'd be willing to take a step down, socioeconomically, to move from white-collar work to a blue-collar job, if it would get us to Canada," he said.

New statistics from Citizenship and Immigration Canada suggest that this trend is changing. The stream of new arrivals to these three cities is dropping off as Canada’s small and mid-sized urban areas are enjoying an immigration boom.
