As of December 1, 2015, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) will be implementing new consequences for employers who violate the rules of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. These new regulations were published in the Canada Gazette earlier this month.

Quebec Immigration Minister Yolande James recently announced that the first $900,000 of Quebec's $6 million settlement funding will go to nine groups located in Villeray, St. Michel, Ahuntsic-Cartierville and the east of Montreal Island, where there are significant immigrant populations. The goal is to help 600 newcomers secure employment through these community organizations.

The city of Montreal will receive $4.5 million over three years from the Quebec provincial government to fund programs to help immigrants find employment and learn about Quebec culture. On an annual basis, this is twice the amount that the provincial government has provided in the past for these programs.
