PNP
Nomination.....
11-01-2018
Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and am trying to get a better understanding of the steps I have to take after my PNP application is processed (and hopefully approved!). I applied for the Yukon nominee program and am waiting for the final decision to be made. It's nerve wrecking because my IEC visa is about to expire in January! The team working on my papers have assured me they will finish my application on time ... doesn't help me sleep at night though.

Anyway, because my visa is running out soon I want to be as prepared as possible and have all my paperwork ready to be handed in asap. What happens when I get accepted as a nominee? How does applying for a work permit extension go? Can somebody share their story with me? Or direct me to an existing thread that I can read?

Thank you so much!

Ilona

I guess there are not so many people applying in the Yukon, lol.
I managed to renew my work permit 1.5 day before my old one expired, pfew!

I want to share my update, just in case anybody ever has the same questions:
When my nominee application was approved last Friday I had to go to the office to pick up all the formal letters. One of these letters contains information for the IRCC. This letter I had to take with me to the border (flag poling) together with: proof of insurance, proof of payment by employer and a letter with the A number (provided to your employer), passport and former work permit. You will have to pay another fee ($150). And that's it, you will receive a new, closed, work permit.

Next step is signing a TPA agreement and after that you can start applying for your PR.

Hi. Could you please tell me terms how long did it take from submitting application to an interview and after interview to receiving actual on confirmation. And what kind of emails did you receive from the nominee office.

After applying (and the mandatory 4 weeks of advertising by the employer/sponsor) it took about 4 weeks to get the interview. After the interview it was 3 days wait for the papers. You have to go and pick the papers up at the office in Whitehorse. Your sponsor will receive a letter with an explanation on how to pay the fees. With the receipt from these fees and the papers you picked up you will have to cross the US border and re-enter Canada to receive the new work permit.

Emails from the nominee office were only confirmation about meetings and interviews. However, if you need there help contact them! They are really friendly and helpful. I wish I had contacted them sooner, it would have saved me a lot of stress

Hello, how long does it take for yukon government to approve someone's YNP? and is it true that it takes only 2 weeks to process at immigration since it is LMIA exempt? Thank you

It takes about 4-8 weeks for YG to approve someone. It depends on how many applications they have to deal with and if your application is complete or not. After being approved (and getting the LMIA exemption through YNP) it will be the same processing time as anyone else. So it will depend on the NOC code of your job whether you can do the faster process online or if you have to do the slower paper based version.

I'm still waiting for immigration to start working on my files

Thank you for your response.
I am NOC B and planning to bring my two kids and husband. Is he entitled for open work permit right?
Also, As I have ready, if LMIA exempt, it only take 2 weeks. Am I right?
Are you from what country?

I'm sorry, my situation is completely different than yours, I'm in NOC D and it will take me longer. I believe you can apply for express entry which is 6 months process time. I don't know how it works if you're bringing family with you. Maybe someone else can answer this for you.

It depends case by case. Usually they will cc you an email about checking your education if you used to study in Canada. It may be a month to receive the nomination.
