Hi Everyone!

Hope you are having a great day.

I have doubt on how to go about the below request and I believed we have people here on forum that have gone through this process before. I really appreciate your guidance.

My IEC work permit will expire in the next 4month and I would like to stay more in Canada as my country nationality allow me participate for another year if I choose to apply for Young Professionals Visa.

I have a tech job that qualify me to apply for the visa but I had a question in conjunction with what I read on the cic website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=925&top=25

Question: A signed letter of offer or contract of employment I have since I have been with the company for a while now, but If I'm already in Canada, would I need to ask my employee to

- pay the employer compliance fee of CAN$230; and
- complete and submit an offer of employment to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada

Before my papers get approved or I won't need it. Most of the company here does not like doing LMIA which I don't think it's the same. Am afraid most of the company's doesn't like to pay from there pocket for this kind of things, please kindly advice on how to go about this.

Cheers.

It's not an LMIA. And yes, your employer does need to create a GC account, fill in some basic business information, and pay this compliance fee.

If they're not willing to do this, then you unfortunately will be unable to obtain this visa. But on that account, it's probably not an employer I'd even want to work for - it's a negligible fee for them, and if they value your work they'll be fine with paying for it.

I'm glad to know about this on time and I really appreciate you a lot. So you recommend me to let the HR know about this as quickly as possible before the pool opens for IEC Young professional so that they can get it done for me on time ?

There's always A LOT of people applying for WH visas, but the shortage of YP applicants means they usually are processed quickly. Mine took about 1 month total to obtain (fore reference - my WH visa took 3 months).

But yes, let HR know what it will require to extend your eligibility to work in Canada by 1 year. If HR keeps an eye on things, they probably know your current work permit is going to expire anyway and that you won't be able to work for the company anymore soon.
