Have you informed CIC about your 7 months absence? because as per CIC (its on CIC website) if you travel outside Canada for more than 2 weeks you need to inform CIC.
I guess there shouldn't be a problem in regards to travelling as long as CIC was informed.
And for "RQ" you can't say anything. Any suspicion could triggers it.

Hello Everyone! Some Great News

Ottawa, September 5, 2013 — Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander today released the following statement:

“Our government continues to look at all reasonable options to make Canada's already generous immigration system even more flexible, fast and fair. To that end, I am pleased to announce another common sense move to cut wait times for newcomers who are committed to contributing to Canada's long-term growth and prosperity.

“The application process has, for too long, been bogged down by persons who unnecessarily delay the process for everyone else by not taking the process seriously.

“We are committed to ensuring that those who play by the rules and work in good faith to become Canadian citizens will not have to wait in line behind people who fail to attend their citizenship test or interview, or who fail to submit a residence questionnaire.

“We remain committed to eliminating backlogs and continuing to enhance the value of Canadian citizenship.”

September 5, 2013 — Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is taking action to reduce citizenship grant wait times by decreasing its inventory of dormant applications.

Measures are being taken for applicants who do not show up for their scheduled citizenship test or interview.

After a missed test or interview, applicants will be reminded in a final notice to contact CIC to provide a reasonable cause for not showing up. If the applicant provides a reasonable cause for missing their appointment, CIC will reschedule their test or interview. They will be given two opportunities over three months to provide a reasonable cause. Otherwise, their application will be closed.

Some examples of reasonable cause for missing a scheduled test or interview include:

being away to care for a dying parent;
inability to appear as a result of health constraints following an illness or accident; or
waiting for the arrival of documents requested from a third-party (requests for additional information only).
CIC sends notices to the applicant's most-recent known address. Applicants are responsible for keeping their contact information with CIC up-to-date. Applicants can change their address online.

Applicants whose files have been closed will have to re-submit a new application if they are still interested in obtaining Canadian citizenship.

2.We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on August 20, 2012. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

3.We started processing your application on December 28, 2012.
Its "In Process" now.

I have an associate of mine, whose application was recieved on March 14, 2012 & they started processing it on December 13, 2012. Its also "In Process" now.
I will post any updates from now on. Also, I applied for my PR card extension & thats in Process too. I applied PR extension a month before my existing one expired. I hope this does not have any -ve impact on the Citizenship application.

Thanks All!!
