Hey frnds..I wud need some help in order to guide over my possibilites in getting a Student Visa for Canada.I have applied for January 2012 intake.I got my offer letter from Sheridan college in computer engineering technology( co op) 3 years diploma.I got 7 Bands in IELTS.I have 89.2 % in 10th and 77 % in 12th. As i am applying under SPP i have a loan of 9 lakhs sanctioned.This is all the info abt me.Nw i wud like you to reply my following queries :-

1.) Firstly, is there any need to show any liquid funds in form of FDR's or any thing else as some of my frnds have shown it, keep in mind I have 9 lakhs loan sanctioned.If yes, how much amount is sufficient.My college fees for a year is 13500 dollars

2.) Secondly, I heard that students applying for computer courses have a lower chances of getting a visa.

3.) Thirdly, I have six semesters in my course but I have financial support from my family for 4 semesters only. As I have applied for co op program would I be able to make it up for the rest of 2 semesters from the money I get during my work term.Also keep in mind I wud living on rent.I am ready to face hardships and work any no. of hours required.

4.) At last, I intend to stay in Brampton.According to the immigration rules I am not allowed to work off campus, so are there plenty of cash jobs in Brampton.And what is the average pay per hour for cash jobs.

5.) Also in context to the details mentioned above how much chances do I have of getting the visa.

Hi,

1. As per SPP 80% rule, you need around Rs. 8.25 lacs to meet the minimum requirement of 1st year tuition + living expense. You are safe with Rs. 9 lacs loan. You should not under estimate the importance of FDR or cash, as the same is important to show your level of establishment/family tie.

2. It's a gossip!

3. Most probably NO. To earn and to save CAD 4,500 as a two semester fees is going to be very tough move.

4. Think twice before you entertain such thoughts. If caught, thn your game is OVER ! Who will pay back Rs. 9 lacs loan with around 12 % interest rate ?

In reference to the third point, I read on sheridan's webpage that you can get an average of 5800 $ per work term.My fees is 6500 $ per semester.And about my living expenses i have 20 hrs a week to earn for that.Isn't that possible even with this ?

Also in reference to ur reply to my fourth question.I am aware of the consequences but still it wud really helpful if you can tell me about chances of getting a cash job in brampton and what is the average pay.Do they have need any special requirements or something ?

Hi , i am also admitted in Sheridan college Electronics engg course.

Visa is not a problem at all , you will get it .
But yes earning your whole amount of fees for a term is hard .

Regarding the bold part Maherd, I do not want to discourage you but that amount is possible in a perfect world. What if you get a lil lower or very low as compared to that margin?

All I want to say is that be prepared with a backup. Try not to go without one.

About the underlined part, jobs are not very easy to get also you can apply for off campus work permit only after you have successfully completed 6 months of studies and then add two more months to that for processing the work permit. (Most of the info is courtesy of enfield)

Nope, as just like you I am an applicant. Better idea regarding the same could only be provided by somebody who is already in Canada since past 3-4 months atleast.
