Writing My Address in Chinese

On the country specific checklist for applicants from Taiwan there is a requirement that the residential address should be written in Chinese. However, when I try to type Chinese characters or any characters that are not English, it won't allow me to validate the forms. (i.e. IMM 0008) Should I type them in English first, validate, and then print them first and then manually write in the address with Chinese characters afterwards? Any hints?

You write them in after validating and printing the form.

IMM0008 does not ask for addresses to be in Chinese characters.

You can always create a separate Word document with both Pinyin/English and the Chinese characters.

That is correct, but on the country specific document checklist (IMM 3907E) for applicants from Taiwan it states in a special box at the top of the checklist that residential address must be written in Chinese.

Yes, but that doesn't have anything to do with IMM0008. I think it just means you need to ensure that you provide address labels in Chinese characters if you and the applicant are living in Taiwan. If you are not, then I don't see why you would need to include the Chinese version.

We just completed each IMM form according to the instructions. If we were uncertain or wanted to be accurate, we submitted an additional sheet of paper with the details. The mailing address for all the forms also had the additional sheet to ensure clarity...the address boxes on the IMM forms were more geared towards a normal Canadian address, but in China they are quite different and often don't have a street name (especially for those of us living in gated communities).

We do both live in Taiwan, and just as in China the addresses in Taiwan don't really fit in the proper format on the forms. We're are going to use Pinyin then after printing them out we will write in address again in Chinese characters mnually on the forms. Hope that will be sufficient.

You could do that, or simply type it out in Word and attach to the IMM form(s). I didn't enter anything manually because I wasn't sure if it would be acceptable...might look messy or something...but that's just me...bit of a perfectionist when it comes to official documents...
