We're not processing through Islamabad but I have written to:

Minister of Citizenship and Immigration
Prime Minister
3 different MP's
CSIS (many many times)
and even the PM wife (it was xmas, I was having a baby, thought I'd try to appeal to the mother in her)

and nuthin'.

But with that said...it never hurts. In fact, I kind of like to think it's an obligation as citizens of a free democracy to make our voices heard.

So write away! Hopefully you'll have better luck than I have!

Lynn

your saying your application is pass the normal process time of over 14 months? If not then they will do nothing. If it is did you try contacting the visa office, and if you did then go ahead write the letter.but if it is not past the 14 months the minister will not even look at it either.

I know for our case, we were waiting for the kit to get the ball rolling again after an appeal won in March. The first of June we had not heard anything and the local MP here inquired and things started to move and on June 11th our case was "in process". As iarblue said, unless your case is taking more time than the norm, they will will make enquirey other wise they will tell you to wait until you are over the normal time frame.

Timelines for reprocessing are different than for normal processing, but I do agree with you that anyone who has a question should contact their MP rather than write some sort of complaint letter to the Minister.

Go through your MP's office. Make sure they know your case has gone beyond the maximum processing timeline so that they don't think you're just wanting them to make a general inquiry into how long it's going to be, like most people do because they don't read the info on the CIC website and they have no idea how long processing is supposed to take. Your MP needs to know what you know about normal processing time for your embassy - and that the embassy has exceeded that and you still haven't heard from them.

In the meantime - were there any "issues" with your application? Were additional documents or information requested? Was an interview scheduled? All of these things can add time to what is posted as a "normal" processing timeline, so be sure you know that there is no reason whatsoever that there should be any delay before you start complaining.

Is June 2009 when you first submitted the application to CPC-M or when Islamabad received it at the embassy and started processing? You can't count from when you submitted the ap - you have to start the count from when the embassy got the file. June 2009 is just now 14 months, and again, if there were any additional docs requested or an interview scheduled, that will delay processing.

they should employ more people at CIC and change a few rules, that's for sure. the time for applications is too long. Canada is famous for its human rights and CIC to me seems like the black sheep of the country. change and soon, please!!!!

I actually recently received a letter from the Visa office abroad processing my husbands PR application that said to start counting from the time Mississauga rec'd the application for sponsorship. So, I am not sure if this is just specific to Santo Domingo, or if it has changed for all Visa offices?!
