WP renewal at border?

Has anyone done this recently? I'm a US citizen in canada on a Temporary WP that will expire in 2 weeks. My company is working on the paperwork now, which i should get within the next week. I know i can apply online, but it takes 50 days to get a response! + once i apply, im on the implied status meaning i can't leave the country say to the states and come back in and be able to work legally. This is a problem since i have trips planned to go back on weekends!

Yes, as long as you have all the correct paperwork (LMO, Job offer, application form, etc) you can "flagpole" at the border. I recently took a friend down there for just that purpose.

Then you can't apply for a new work permit at the border.

Yes, I did this in January (different POE), you can do it at the border.
