Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Sorry if this is old news to everyone here, but...

According to a representative at the FBI (who was very helpful), fingerprints can be sent to an FBI Channeler to process the request. The wait time is a mere 48 hours as opposed to the current 10 weeks (due to the recent US Government shutdown). The expedited fee is about $50, but includes the $18 FBI fee, which seems very reasonable. The report is generated on tamper-proof paper and includes an FBI seal, to make it all official like. :)
*Note that they will only mail the report/letter to a US mailing address, so if you are in Canada you would need to have it mailed to family or a friend...who would then forward it to you.

This probably is of little interest to Inland applicants, due to the limited validity of the report versus the processing time for CIC, but for those applying Outland...it might be worth looking into. However, for anyone that has been informed that they need a new report, as theirs has expired during processing...this is most certainly worth checking out.

You can find a list of Channelers on the FBI site, here:

FBI Channelers have been discussed before. The consensus is that CIC will not accept them

Ooops. Never mind.

Move along people: nothing to see here. :'(

Don't :'( These forums are all about sharing and it always helps to share what you learn or find

Thanks.

I must admit that it's disappointing to see that an authorized Channeler is good enough for the FBI, but not CIC. Anything that `we' can do to expedite any part of the process, can only help to quiet the `noise' in our minds...while we wait.

For the most part, Ponga, most folks spend so much time with the paperwork they are quite familiar with the 'needs' for application submittle that they get the clearance certificates from the FBI in a timely enough manner because they preplanned everything. Last year when I did my FBI certificates, I knew that I needed to have them, but didn't know they expired within 3 months, it's a good thing I was ready with the rest of my stuff so they wouldn't.

It usually only takes about 6 weeks for the FBI to do their thing. If you send off for them, then complete some paperwork, get a medical appointment set, get some translations if needed or order certified copies and such, it all fits together nicely. I think even for those that jump right in with both feet and don't prepare STILL take a month or more to gather all the necessary documentation.

Believe me when I tell you I know EXACTLY how you feel. I would start arguments with people about WHY this was not acceptable because I just wanted it to be done and sent already. You might want to practice your patience now because it is a long hard road, but well worth it, I'm told ;)

But...I can't practice my patience; I'm an Aries!

I spoke with someone at the FBI yesterday and they said they're currently at 10 weeks, due to the recent US Government...`time out', for lack of a better description. I also managed to speak with someone at CIC that was very kind and [Mark] assured me that there would not be any issues in sending my FBI PCC and medical at a later date, regarding having the application returned and deemed as incomplete, due to the Inland processing times.

He said "Trust me sir, I work here so I should know".

Obviously...I `bit my tongue' and politely said "Thank you". :D

I would still get my medical completed upfront Ponga. Even if you send in your FBI PCC later on you still have to make sure they attach it to your file properly which requires the UCI and such. If it were me, I would send in every possible piece of information they require up front so not having to worry about them getting it 'right' wouldn't be a big thing later.

Ug. Part of what Mark @ CIC told me, included delaying the medical for Inland applicants. He said that all I need to do is include a cover letter explaining that these would be sent when requested. Had I been smart enough to have started this process months ago, I wouldn't feel the overwhelming need to just get it `in' the system ASAP!

Thanks,

I understand what "Mark" is telling you, but if you have to wait for these things to be requested from CIC, then you have to wait for appointment time, plus mailing/completion time from FBI, which puts you how much further behind in your wait?

Agreed, but my plan is to send my fingerprint card ( I had 2 done, just in case I need to re-submit for a second request for PCC) to the FBI in about 2-3 months (or when we receive AOR), which would still give me time to receive it before CIC needs it. The panel physician that I'm planning to use for my medical only needs a few days notice for my appointment and since the results are sent electronically to CIC (within 5-7 days) this should mitigate any real delay.

I know...arguably not the best plan, but...it is my plan.

Didnt want to start a new topic, sorry for bumping this one.

The FBI fees is around 18 dollars which was taken care of by filling the credit card payment form. I cant seem to get sleep thinking ive done this correctly. FBI has stopped accepting prepaid envelopes. is $18 enough ?! considering it cost me $30 something (with tracking) just to mail it to FBI from canada I would think it would cost FBI more than $18 to send it back to canada.. and what about their fees ??

yes, it is only $18, per the FBI website. did you follow the directions on the site for submitting a request? if so, then why would the price be questioned? it gets mailed in regular mail, so i doubt it costs more than $1 to mail it to you in canada.

Don't worry. The FBI does only charge the $18. If you put your Canadian address on your information sheet and payment sheet that is where they will send it to you. They will mail it in a regular envelope though, no special tracking and such.
