hello! I have a quick question that I hope you all can help with. I am currently dating a canadian man, and things are getting pretty serious. that being said, on my last visit to canada, I stayed the entire length of my visa, six months. I flew in december 2012, and left may 2013. I read that I might not be able to go back to canada until the new year, and I was wondering if this is true :( he was planning on coming to see me, but something came up and he has to stay in ontario. would it be possible for me to visit him before 2014? and if so, when is the soonest I could go see him? any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Yes - you can visit him before 2014. There is no rule as to how soon you can return.

Whether you are allowed into Canada and for how long will be determined by the individual immigration officer you encounter when you enter Canada. Since you have already spent a great deal of time in Canada this year, you should bring proof that shows you have strong ties to your home country (job, property, business, etc.) and have no plans to remain in Canada long term. In other words, you should bring evidence that demonstrates you are a genuine tourist. You may not need this evidence, but it's good to have in case the officer starts questioning why you are spending so much time in Canada.

Vjreal, in your case, I think a "Letter of Explanation" would help. Even if you apply online, there is a place where you can upload a Letter of Explanation. And when you write this letter, tell them the whole story. You haven't done anything wrong and you will not over stay your current visitor visa.

But no one can tell you for sure whether your application will be approved or not.

Good luck.

Well, you have already proven you aren't a genuine visitor.... No one can tell you for sure what will happen, but you can expect to be questioned about the work visa. You will need to show very strong ties to your home country.
