Would CIC mail back your supporting documents even everything is good?

I received a letter about the oath ceremony, which mentions that I should bring "the original of all supporting documents (birth certificate, legal change of name document, etc.) sent with the application." However, I don't recall ever reeving my original support documents back from CIC. did I misunderstand something?

The instructions stated that you were to send copies of documents, not originals. If you sent originals, they will not be returned to you.
