Greetings.
I am helping out a lovely German lady and her family gathering some resources on immigration. I have a few questions.

She is a professional veterinarian with her own clinic in German. She has a family of 5 including her husband and 3 children.
She is highly interested in working in the Great Lakes region or Nova Skotia near a more rural town by the water in a profession that deals with animals both wild and domestic.

She wants to know how much yearly income she and her family of 5 would need to live comfortably. How much does Veterinarians and individuals that work with animal healthcare, rescue, national parks or anything related to professions with animals, livestock expect for a good income?
This is her question to me about income.
How much do you have to earn in Canada per year, without being concerned about the money? Do you have any ideas how much a family with three kids have to earn?
What is the normal payment, per month, what is bad payed, what well paid for an hour?

I am helping gather information for her since shes quite busy running her clinic.
Her plan is to first find work she is qualified and gain a working and residence permit. She will sell her house and clinic so they have the money to move and settle in Canada. Her English speaking skills are proficient. I am not sure about French and if that is a requirement in provinces outside Quebec.

So if anyone can help and steer me in the right direction for resources in recommended income for a family of 5 and job resources for a professional that knows and practices both practical and natural therapy and medicine for animals and a husband that works with disabled then I would appreciate any help and information.

thank you and kind regards

Cathrine

I can't help you with the income.

To qualify to apply for a work permit, she will first need to find an employer in Canada that is willing to offer her a full time job. That employer will then need to obtain something called an LMIA (approval to hire a foreign worker). To qualify for an LMIA, the employer will have to advertise the job for at least a month on accepted job board to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. The employer will then have to submit the LMIA application for processing along with a $1,000 fee. Processing can take anywhere from a few weeks to over four months (most applications take several months). There is no guarantee of approval and if the government processing office feels that the employer should have reasonably been able to find a Canadian for the role, the LMIA will be refused. Assuming the LMIA is approved, she would then qualify for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer. Since the LMIA process is so involved, long and expensive - it tends to be extremely difficult to find employers willing to go through the process. So before she spends too much time researching anything else, I would recommend she start looking for jobs to see if any employers respond and if the first step in her plan is even feasible.
