Hello,
i am a German resident living and working in Canada with a post graduation work permit which will expire in August 2020. I got married to my Canadian wife over a year ago and we are just about to sent in my Family Class permanent residence application . My question is if i will also have to apply for a work permit again since i suspect the application to take longer than august or if my current status as a work permit holder will be extended till a decision is made on my PR application? Thank you in advance.

You will be able to continue working on Implied Status after your current permit expires while waiting for your OWP.

Does that mean i will have to apply for the OWP with my PR application or will the PR application allow me to work. Just trying to figure out if i have to apply for PR and OWP or only PR.

Yes, you'll need to submit an OWP application (with a full OWP checklist) with your PR application to get that implied status which allows you to continue working past your work permit expiry.

Hi,

My current work permit will expire on June 1st 2020.
I submitted my PR application (CEC inland) on Oct 12 2019.
I also submitted the BOWP(Bridge Open Work Permit) application on Feb 26 2020.
I got PPR email on March 4th and sent my passport to Ottawa office for Visa stamp and CoPR.
I assume that I will not hear any news about the PR , my passport back and the BOWP due to the COVID-19 for a while. So, I think I'll go to implied status after June 1st.

My question is: Should I do any further action to go to implied status? Should I get new work permit for implied status?
Any help much appreciated.

You don't get a permit for Implied Status; that's why it's called "Implied". You don't do anything but wait.
