Hi there,
I'm currently on a Working Holiday and would like to know if it's possible to apply for Study Permit once my WHP expires, from within Canada, or will I need to re-enter the country to get the Study Permit issued??

Thanks so much!!

Yes you can, you apply to Vegreville for change of status, with an acceptance letter, proof of funds for living expenses of $10K and the first years tuition + airfare home.

PMM, what is Vergreville? I am interested in doing the same thing, because I'd like to enroll in the diploma next year January. I was already accepted for the college recently, so I just need to work a little before I start school.

Originally I applied for a Psychology degree, but they said I would need Math 30 applied, and if they gaive me an acceptance letter, it would be a conditional one, and I don't know if immigration might accept me if they saw that. Would it be best if I applied for Liberal Arts, a diploma programme that would not require me to get math. Then pursue Math at a learning institute in the mean time before January next year. Do people get study permits for Liberal Arts diplomas, or are they frowned upon?

Vegreville Alberta is the processing centre in Canada for all applications in Canada, for extensions and for "In-Canada" applications for permanent residents.

So only if you are a permanent resident, you can apply for a study permit while you are in Canada?

No, permanent residents don't need study permits. Persons on a Work permit or Study permit apply to Vegreville for extensions and change of status.
