Working for US employer as a Canadian contractor via own company

Has anyone been able to open your own consulting firm and get your US employer to pay you via the Canadian firm?

how does that work out in practice? where do you have to set up your firm?

Would look up other posting in this forum. People have shared what they did. You set up your own company in Canada and bill the company. Pretty standard for any consulting job.
