Working for company outside Canada

Hello,

I am awaiting approval for studying in Canada, and I am currently an employee for a company outside Canada.

In case my employer request I maintain my employment if they can't fill my position by the time I have to leave to Canada, and do my work online, will that be considered as working in Canada? Do I have to get approval from the government (if study permit indicate I can't work off campus)? And how would that work tax wise, as working hours can't be tracked or proven to the government as it's a monthly income and not hourly?

So far, only found out a quora answer claiming that working online for a company outside Canada is not considered as "work", which confused me even more.

I am thankful for any help I receive.

It does not operate in Canada in any way or form.
It will not employ a Canadian to do my job as that would be too costly.

The "too costly" part isn't part of the decision.

If the company does not operate in Canada in any way, and you are doing work for the US company and being paid in US funds to a US account, then it may not be considered working in Canada.

If they did operate in Canada but would not hire a Canadian over you as it would be too expensive, my answer would be different.

It's a company in the Middle East, operate there only, pay using the country's currency only, and payment is transfered to a local bank.

Thanks a lot for your help.

In this case I won't have to report my work in Canadian tax reports?
And I don't have to disclose my work if asked if I am an employee?

I want to be very careful about this issue as I don't want to loose the possibility to study and I don't want to do anything illigal.

Thanks alot for your help.

I asked CiC while updating my application and they directed me here. I will try again with them and the Canadian embassy.

This information is incorrect. If you are studying I n Canada for over 6 months in a year you must declare you international income on your taxes.

I don't mind that. But should I report it as an employee? As I am supposed to be there as a student and should not work more than 20 hours.

And do I need my work to be permitted.by the government?

If anyone knows of a professional that I can contact I will be grateful.

You need to report your foreign income while you live in Canada. I have no idea what you mean about "reporting as an employee". You will declare the income when you file your taxes.

No, you don't need your foreign work to be permitted.
