I am running out of time on my work permit. I still need about 6 months of experience to qualify under skilled worker program.

I have been offered a full time, paid job on a 1 year contract basis. It is for a not for profit organisation.

Will this count as job experience? I am pretty sure its NOC B, but it is on a contract basis and it will only last a year. My permit will expire before that. I plan to apply by November/December.

The fact that the organisation is not for profit bothers me, i am not sure if it will count as skilled experience. Can anyone please help? I need to accept the offer ASAP

Being not for profit is irrelevant, what matters is that you get paid and you performed the duties of a skilled NOC.

Your comment that "I still need about 6 months of experience to qualify under skilled worker program" is confusing though. If you're a FSW applicant then you must have a year of continuous work experience under your primary NOC so having 6 months under one NOC and 6 months under another won't help you meet the eligibility criteria.

So I have to ask, did you mean Canadian Experience Class?

does it have to be continuous? I can't get Canadian experience class. I worked abroad a few years ago. I have heard that it doesn't need to be continuous

For eligibility purposes one year must be continuous under your Primary NOC.

My permit expires end of next Jan. This contract will be for a year starting July. Can i do anything here?

is there anything i can do now? I remember an immigration lawyer telling me that it needed to be in the last 3 years, not necessarily continuous.

Those requirements are for the Canadian experience class program not for the Federal skilled program.

but i won't be able to get Canadian experience class. If its a one year contract, can i get some sort of extension to complete the contract and then apply?

I simply do not have enough details about your situation to answer that question.

Ok.

I have 6 and a half months of skilled NOC B experience from Dubai obtained in 2016.

My canadian post graduate work permit will expire on January 21st 2019.

I have been offered a one year, paid full time position in an institute starting from July 2018. This is also under NOC B.

Is there anything that can be done here?

Then convincing your employer to get LMIA for you would be the only option for you to keep on working in Canada and eventually become a CEC applicant. Being a non-for profit organization I don't know how willing they'd be in regards to spending the time and money to apply for it though.

As it stands you do not have a year of foreign work experience nor will you have a year of Canadian work experience unless you obtain LMIA.

I have no interest in PNP programs that aren't part of EE so I can't help in that department.
