LMIA always has a expiry day, but your work contract may not. Your job offer letter should say "permanent position" or something like this.

Ok I now see that my LMIA expired. :( So that means that I need to ask my employee to get me new LMIA for permanent position or something like that? Right?

Yes. Ask your employer to go through the process and note "permanent position" in offer letter. good luck with that

But I'm still eligible to apply for EE, just my chances are much lower without LMIA, right?

You don't need another LMIA, see:

get a positive LMIA from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), unless
the candidate is already working temporarily in Canada for an employer who supported their work permit application with an LMIA, and
that same the employer now wishes to extend a permanent job offer to this candidate. If the position or person was previously exempt from an LMIA, then a new LMIA will be required under Express Entry. When you get your LMIA, it will have an associated number that you will need to give to your Express Entry candidate.


I came to Canada on WP, and applied for PR last July. At this time my LMIA was already expired.

So all you need is to get updated job offer.

You should be good. Dont worry, proceed with your application. IELTS and ECA is mandatory for primary applicant, so proceed without spouse IELTS/ECA. Just ask your employer to provide job letter with "permanent" keyword in it.

PCC (Police clearance certificate) is required for both - spouse and you.

Uh great. So just need new offer where will have information that is permanent job offer or letter, but no need new LMIA. Does that mean new contract? I have contract with them, but nowhere in LMIA don't have information how long is my contract, but not word "permanent" also.

Just now I don't understand do I get those additional 600 points or not?

You can check your current contract to see if the contract is only for 3 years. If there is an end date or expire date in your contract, you don't qualify for 600 points.

In this case, your employer will have to issue a new contract which has no-end date and must have the word "permanent". After that, you will qualify for 600 points.

In the case that your current contract doesn't contain the end date. You may qualify for 600 points now.

I checked, it has expire date.

Ok, thank you a lot for advice, I find out lot of new things about this. I probably can't get right now new contract for permanent, since I have just arrived and started to work, but will have that on mind.

Will put on hold EE application for now, and will try to get permanent contract asap.
