Update:-

This is an update for all the people on the forum who have been facing a similar condition as mine or the people reading this thread for information.
If your LMO has not yet arrived and your WP is about to expire then you can apply for WP through online application or by mail to Vegreville processing centre.

My thanks to jes_ON, rjessome and PMM for their useful information

Vegreville will no longer process work permits without the LMOs.

This update was posted on 9/17. Go down to the section, "Additional details regarding concurrent processing" -

So, as per the notice on the CIC website , it states that since the officers need to know the expiry date of the LMO they no longer process the applications with LMO applied for

But what about the applications that they received online? Since I applied for the WP online and paid $150 for that and it gave me the reference number and a receipt???

Can someone tell me if I am good to stay or not???

Ashish, when did you get the application submitted? Was it before 9/17?

It's hard to say - usually a rule is not applied before it is publicly announced, but PMM seemed certain before the clarification was posted.

I submitted the application after 9/17 but my question is : shouldn't they stop accepting the application right away as its all online? Moreover they accepted my payment. I think they should stop accepting applications online if they think they can't process them.

Another bulletin from CIC dated September 30th. Regarding CPC-V, concurrent processing will be allowed if:

For inland processing, the concurrent processing option will only be allowed for foreign nationals whose work permits will be expiring within two weeks. They must provide proof of a valid job offer, as well as proof that the employer has submitted a request to Service Canada for a new LMO. Applications will be initialized and the processing fee will be processed. Applications will be held for two months (TBC for CAQ) from the date of receipt, after which a determination to either refuse or approve the work permit will be made.

True....its more ambiguous and convoluted as jes_ON said...and yet I think nothing is publicly said ...they are in the webpages that only experts would know about...what about general people???

The webpages are public and for the general people. They are not always clear or easy to understand, I'll agree. It is always up to the applicant / foreign worker/resident to stay up-to-date on CIC regulations (which, as you know by now, can change suddenly), so visit these webpages often...
