If you have been out of school for a year is your study permit even still valid ? Others can comment as well but no you cannot work as you are no longer in full time education.

Your study permit would have been automatically cancelled by CIC. What is your current status?

You would have to be attending school full time now (during this semester) to be able to work. Since you're not in school now, working in the summer is not possible and illegal.

As mentioned before your study permit would have been cancelled. You are likely out of status currently unless you applied to stay as a visitor when you didn't return to school. Also hope you did not work when you didn't go back to school.
