WORK PERMIT

I'm still waiting for my application to be approved since jun 2015 and my work permit ins expiring in sept 2017. I have a feeling they're going to take their sweet times and possibly going to get longer than my 26 months of waiting period.

If It happened and since it is costly, do I need to extend my work permit or I will have an implied status? I have a job to keep.

You will need to extend it before it expires to have implied status. You don't have implied status if your work permit expires while your application are in process. I would pay the $255 rather go through the risk of messing the application process.
