I am an American and I want to go for the workers permit so i can see my boyfriend for longer in fort St. John in Canada there are a lot of jobs open over there. I was wondering if it would matter if i applied for a workers permit when i was there and found a job or can i only apply for it while im still in America? I know that the job position has to be something that has to be advertised and actively looking, so to me if i went up there and looked for a job it would be easier to provide the paper work. Please help!

It doesn't matter where you are when you submit the application. Since you are American, you can go to the border once you have a job offer and approved LMO and obtain a work permit on the spot.

Note that the hard part will be obtaining the approved LMO. This is something your employer must do (not you) and this step will likely take several months.

What if i get a job in canada and i deiced that i want a different one, do they need to re do the application? would i need to re do my work visa placation?
