Hi,

You may want to see this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-eligible.asp

Specifically "Eligibility to Apply as you Enter Canada"
You can request authorization to work in Canada as you enter Canada but only if you meet the following requirements:

you are temporary resident visa exempt;
you already hold a valid medical certificate, if it is required for your job; and
your job does not need a labour market opinion (LMO) from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) (some exceptions apply); or
you hold an LMO from HRSDC.

/all the best...

Hi Cee12345

I am on a study visa, got my offer letter and a positive LMO.

I have withdrawn my admission as I got this job and my visa says multiple entries.

Can I get a work permit at the port of entry (Niagara CBSA office) My employer is saying go for it. Please suggest?

Got a questoin here i know you would be able to answer,

suppose i am on visitor's visa in canada, valid for 6 months, there is an employer willing to offer me a job, which way is shorter to get PR? CEC or PNP? since there is an offer is it adviseable to get work permit first and that decide which path to choose?

Thanks in advance

It depends on your province, although PNP is usually faster. It also depends on the job. Do you know the NOC codes? Are you sure it's acceptable for CEC/PNP (in your province)?

If the answer is yes, the job is accepted for CEC/PNP, then just look at the times to qualify for CEC/PNP and the processing times. CEC takes two years to qualify roughly and 14 months to process the PR. So about 3.5 years all together once you start the job.

You also need to know if your employer will nominate you. Have they nominated people in the past? Is it part of the company policy? Some companies won't nominate employees and some will. Also, you need to know if your employer meets the criteria to nominate someone.

I actually don't know as much about PNP as you think might think ;) Google is my best friend! I would google your province's PNP program and read over it from the viewpoint of the employee (yourself) and the employer (your company/boss).

it will be Toronto, Ontario,
i am yet to find the job codes but depending on my work exp and qualification i may ask him to offer me a job mostly in one of these 2171( 2 years) Quality Specialist information systems, 1121(1 year) Human resorce co ordinator, 6314(3 years) Sr operation specialist, 2282(2 years) Sr technical support analyst

i think i will fist have to get onto TWP which is the only way to stay in canada and process PR application since TWP can be valid for 4 years....

TWP will only be valid for the length of the LMO. I think most LMOs are 1-2 years. Not to say your employer can't ask for a new LMO. It's actually easier to get one again for the same employee most of the time.

The employer needs to be the one picking the NOC code to fill their needs. The fact you're handpicking a NOC code tells me the employee is naive about the process. Does the employee know the difficulty he will face? Toronto has many workers. The employer has to prove there are no Canadians or PRs already available for the job - going to be virtually impossible in Toronto.

I would strike out the HR option. Unless you already have your Canadian credentials for HR, you won't be approved for that WP. Doesn't matter if you have a PhD in HR and 20 years experience as a HR manager. If you don't have the Canadian certification, no chance.

NOC 6314, I would probably disregard as well. It's a C code Noc and not eligible for CEC or PNP in most places.

This has been answered several times. Please back read.

You are able to apply at the Port of Entry only if you are:

1.) You are temporary resident visa exempt (it means you are a Passport Holder or a National of a country that does not need a Temporary Resident Visa to enter Canada but in your case it says you have a MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA so you do not qualify);

2.) you already hold a valid medical certificate, if it is required for your job;

and

3.) your job does not need a labour market opinion (LMO) from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) (some exceptions apply); or you hold an LMO from HRSDC.

For more info - you may want to read this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-eligible.asp
Good Luck!
