work permit without ielts

Hello friends i want to know is there any way someone gets work permit without ielts?
even a slightest chance please mention it......
like mentioning in LMO or anyway other?
i have met someone he said it is possible i dont believe him just want to confirm it....
so if anybody knows pls tell....

I dont think you need IELTS for Work Permit, it is mandatory for PR though.

You dont have to get ielts for work permit

For temporary working permit you dont have to get ielts

i have talked to a consultant i wanted to apply for a work permit of my uncle but he said IELTS is mandatory without ielts he cannot get work permit?
and ateast 12 years of study is also required.

This varies from country to country or rather type of job. In Pakistan where i live, i have heard of several semi / low skilled jobs being refused for work permit where their gcms notes say "No IELTS".

There is also a post by a mechanic on this forum who applied from some foreign country (i am not sure which it was, but probably not an english speaking country). He took IELTS himself and scored a 3.5. He was refused visa citing the same reason. His experience was like 10+ years was certified, and probably he mentioned english being mentioned as the reason.

Please note i am not saying CIC any where states IELTS as a requirement. But it MIGHT serve as a cause of rejection.

However, for e.g. in case of skilled jobs such as IT, there never is any such requirement. I know at least 4-5 colleagues of mine (including myself) who applied and got through without any such requirement. But all of these possessed 16 years of education (4 year formal degree in their domain) plus years of professional experience working for MNC's. So their proficiency in English appeared obvious from their profiles.

Hi Freind

When I apply in july for my W/P,they asked me for IELTS.It was not on the work permit documents request list.but they request me to do it along with my medical request sheet.the request of IELTS came up recently i guess since july.just be ready for it.

You are most welcome. I am also trying to help as much as i can since you described the case of person in question i.e. the driver fellow. I probably suspect he would be asked to go through IELTS if not already done.
