I am in the process of applying for work permit visa (Being relocated by my current employer from India to Canada) for a period of 3 years. My family consists of two people, myself and my mother (My father is not alive and I am single child who is currently unmarried). As there is no way I can leave my mother alone, I need to apply for her visa for a period of 3 years as well, alongwith my visa. Kindly guide me for the same.

There is no visa that will allow your mother to come with you for three years.

Your mother can try applying for a tourist visa. To be approved, she will have to show that she has strong ties to her home country and has no plans to remain in Canada long term. If she is approved (there is no guarantee she will be approved), the tourist visa will allow her to visit Canada for six months. Once those six months are up, you can apply to extend her tourist visa (there is no guarantee this extension will be approved).

If your mother is approved for a tourist visa and comes to Canada with you, I think it's extremely unlikely she will be able to continue renewing her tourist visa and be able to stay here for a full three years. Sooner or later Canadian immigration will tell her she has to return home.

You should assume that your mother will not be able to be in Canada with you for the full three years.

As replied by Scylla: WORK PERMIT VISA FOR 3 YEARS

Dear Scylla,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I understand that it would indeed be difficult to get a tourist visa for 3 years. However, as we have no intentions of staying long term in Canada (As demonstrated by family ties as well as residential property in India), would it be possible for my relatives, domiciled in and having a citizenship of Canada, to file some sort of sponsorship (Expenses may be borne by me), to enable her any longer visa?

Does she have any children who are either PRs or citizens of Canada and are currently living in Canada?
