work permit visa do we need police certificate ?

one of my friend applying for work permit visa. do he need to submit police certificate as well?

hi deep ,
when i applied for mine couple of years back. they did not ask for pcc. not sure if it is changed now. when i had aplied they did not ask for any pcc for me. cheers.
