Is the vaildity of work permit decided by the port of entry?

So the starting date and ending date is decided on "when I arrive" and "how I convince the staff that my wp duration lasts for that length"?

1. Yes. Usually given for the length of time on the LMIA.

For example, I applied for a work permit and it was approved. They placed in my passport what I suppose is a Temporary resident visa which expires by July 23rd, now employment ends on August 9th. What will happen when I arrive in Canada? Will I get a work permit from the day I arrive till August 9th? Or will I have a problem with the fact that my TRV expires in July?

The validity of the TRV has nothing to do with your status in Canada.

So, it means that thte TRV is only used to enter the Canada, with nothing else.
