Work Permit to Student Visa

Hello. I am currently on a 6 month work permit that expires in January 24, 2019. I wanted to advance my education here in Canada. Is it possible for me to convert my work permit to a student visa by applying to college in Canada? Also, will I have to write the IELTS? And if so, what are the minimum band requirements?

Hi there, I know this is an old thread but were you able to apply for study permit?
