work permit requirement.. proof of fund?

hello guys.

i just want to ask something regarding work permit requirements.
im a student here in london and im applying for work permit to canada (food attendant). i just want to know if i need proof of fund? my friend told me that i dont need it but i read somewhere that it is also needed.

I don't see the requirement of proof of fund from CIC online application . I applied without fund document.
