I applied to have my work permit extended in late September. Here's some background:
- I had been granted a 3 year LMO in 2013 but I was only given 1.5 years on my permit as my passport was due to expire
- I applied for PR but when it was slow being approved, I sent an application off to get the remaining 1.5 years of my LMO
- I've had a decision made on my PR since late October but still haven't received my COPR
- Yesterday I received a Work Permit document in the mail which I assume relates to my WP extension application
I was happy to see the WP document arrived but I'm confused by a few things:
1) It has an issue date of December and I thought it would be dated at the expiry of my last permit so as not to exceed the 3 years I was granted.
2) I was granted a further two years which seems odd to me.
3) There is a comment at the bottom which states "temporary resident status maintained as per R183(6)
4) It says my occupation is now open
If anyone could shine some light on the rationale behind any of the items above that I'm confused about, I'd appreciate it! It seems like good news. I need to leave the country for the holidays also. Is there any issue with me doing so? R183(6) refers to implied status which is my concern with that.
