Hi all. Maybe somebody knows why so sharply increased processing time for work permits from inside Canada. I am waiting for more than two months, and shold wait at least more three months. Insurance is extended for 90 days, and what then?

I'm pretty sure you can re-extend health insurance (talking about BC MSP) if your CIC case is taking more than 90 days an is still being processed. Call your insurance to confirm.

Given how WP processing times are increasing, we're in for a loooong wait. Many months ahead. Some weeks they don't even process any applications – 7 days go by, the date they're processing application for does not change.

CIC is accumulating a huge backlog of work permit applications, it seems.

What a shame, you can become permanent resident via EE faster than you can get a work permit.

Thanks I'll call to insurance and try to extend. The fact that a new work permit for NOC C and I can not apply for EE. This week CIC do not process any applications again. Processing time now 145 days. It's unbelievable.

The work permit processing seems to have picked up pace in the last few days.

Right now they are processing applications filed in June.
