Im from vietnam and i wanna work in canada as a foreign worker.
i got a job offer already, what should i so next, does my employer need to do anything to help me get the WP?

Your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA before you can apply for a work permit.

can you please tell me more about how my employer does that ? for example like write a letter or something ?
thanks a lot for your help

LMIA - Labor Market Impact Assessment

This is a process which needs to be done by a Canadian employer who wants to hire a foreign worker. The employer files for an LMIA from their side and show proof that they have tried and not found any permanent resident or citizen to fill in the position for which they would want to hire the foreign worker. Once they have satisfied this then they would get a positive LMIA from the governing body. Other things like requitements for the position applying for, wage being offered, whether it is above or below the median wages, whether the wage is of the top 10% highest earning wage, etc are calculated and then the decision is taken. Expected time for the LMIA to come in take anywhere between 8 to 10 weeks.. Less or more.. Depends on the province as well. For more info please visit cic.gc.ca

Thanks!
Joe

No - it's not a letter. It's a lot more complicated than that.

It's a four to six months process that will require the employer to pay a $1000 fee and also likely spend hundreds of dollars on advertising. Your employer needs to read through the following web site in detail: http://www.esdc.gc.ca/en/foreign_workers/hire/median_wage/low/overview.page

Thank you so much for your help i really appreciate it .
The process is so confusing .

Yes - the LMIA process long and complicated. Your employer needs to follow the instructions very carefully. The first step is to advertise your job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be hired. The employer needs to make sure they meet the advertising requirements in the instructions provided.

how do you make sure the LMIA approval is genuine?
