Work permit or PR or both?

I am currently in US and applied for AINP program under H1B stream on April 9th. I saw that Alberta recently increased their time line for processing nominations to 8 months. Meanwhile, I found an employer based in Alberta who is willing to sponsor me for work permit or PR.

1) If I start applying for work permit now, how long will the process take? I have a Master's in Computer Science from US University and relevant experience in IT. I read in the following link that IT workers do not require LMO. (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/special-tech.asp) Can anyone confirm please?

2) Just like PR, is there a difference in work permit application process at a provincial level and federal level? (in terms of time line, requirement etc)

3) If I apply for work permit now, will the visa officer know that I have an application pending with Alberta for PNP? (because if he knows, he may reject temporary work visa thinking I will not return back)

1. Your time line should put into consideration the following factors:
a. looking for an employer, getting them to hire you and making sure that your job description falls under the special categories
that don't need an LMO, let them draw up an offer letter
b. and apply for a work permit, depending on which visa office you choose to send your application, the processing times vary. Check the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/15-temp-workers.asp

2. For WP applications, it's the same for most provinces.
3. I think it's okay to do concurrent processing of WP and PR applications.

OK guys I called Alberta again... and they are going to e-mail me some information about the process... however she gave me an overview and everything was just a confirmation of bb0310, bendjoe and Albertagoverner's post.
Once you get the nomination it replaces the LMO... so that's the reason why they don't need LMO...
Also processing times depend on the consulate. At least in NY is 1-28 days..
To process work permit I just need the job offer, copy of AINP certificate or AINP nomination confirmation letter, plus documents from CIC check list...
Additionally she told me to fax the job offer letter+AINP number to Alberta...
