Hi all,
This is fairly urgent, therefore appreciate all the help.
My Work Permit is expiring on Dec 18, 2021. I came to Canada on a 1-year study in Jan 2020 (onset of Covid) and applied for PR in March 2021(based on my work experience back in my home country). I was hopeful that I would get my PR by end of 2021, so never thought of a 2-year study.
Now my 1-year work permit (Jan - Dec 2021) is about to expire. I applied for a BOWP on Sep 10, 2021, but that has not been processed yet. CIC sent a letter stating 'you are authorized to continue working until January 08, 2022 with the same conditions (ie: employer and occupation) until or until a decision is made on your application, whichever is first.'
Does this mean I'll have to leave the country if the work permit is not approved by Jan 8, 2022?
I understand the delays but people like us would fall through the cracks due to all these delays. Is there anything I can do to avoid this? Reaching out to IRCC is very difficult due to the current backlogs.
Please advise,
Balwinder
