Received PPR today. Took over 3 months (16 weeks) to process after biometrics. Here is my timeline:
ICT from the USA
Non-GSS (NOC: 8232)
Application submitted: June 22, 2021 (estimated processing time from the US at the time was 9 weeks according to the IRCC website)
Biometrics Request Letter: June 23, 2021
Biometrics provided at the NYC VFS: July 13, 2021
Biometrics status shows "Completed" online: July 20, 2021
Request for additional documents: September 29, 2021
Additional documents received by IRCC: October 4, 2021
Passport Request Letter & Biometrics Validity Letter: November 4, 2021

Yesterday when I called to check the status, the automated phone system still said review of eligibility has not started yet and background check is in progress (like it has always been for the past 3 months). Today, it says your passport is requested to complete the processing of your application.

My advice to those waiting beyond the estimated processing time on the IRCC website is to have your employer send a webform or email to the visa office processing your application requesting urgent processing and expressing that you are needed as soon as possible for your position in Canada. Again only do this if you are past the estimated processing time.. in my case it was 15 weeks when my employer sent an email and the estimated processing time when we submitted my application was 9 weeks.

Good luck to those waiting especially if you've been waiting for an extremely long time like I was!

Hi, I also applied with a brand new passport. And I've just got my PPR, it took a little over 2 months, but I was initially told it should be done in 2-3 weeks. Although I'm applying from the UK. I was a bit in a panic mode because my UK visa expires on November 14th, so I emailed them and sent them a message from the webform, also the lawyer was sending them messages. They are cutting it really close, I'm hoping there is not further complications so I can leave on the 13th.
@rishuaj and @celix24 How exactly is the new passport influencing things here? You would have only sent them a scanned copy during your application stage right? I dont see why that would trigger a background check. All they need is proof of legal status in the country of application. I m not sure the passport really matters.

I reached out to my local mp and they said this was my partners status update:
  • The eligibility of your application: require review
  • Assessment of criminality: passed
  • Medical: passed
  • Other Comments: no pending documents required. Your file has been sent to our London, Ontario office for review and VISA process
Why is it processed in London? And I’m worried about the require review. Will that make this take longer?

@CWP_Texas: Did you get any update on your application?
I too applied from the US in October, so checking on the time it's taking to approve from here.

Biometric-Sep 21 2021

thanks for all your help and support during this wait. I hope it works out for everyone. good luck
Updating this with second half of the story.
Sent passports to LA VAC: Oct 29 (If you are in rush, don't go with NYC VAC, you will save 2-3 days at least)
Received stamped passports in NJ: Nov 4
Sent stuff though movers: Nov 5
Drove across Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls: Nov 6

Crossing border was very smooth, please complete Arrive CAN. Custom official didn't ask us anything or checked car. In fact they returned our custom declaration form (both for the stuff in car and carried by movers), per them we are here for short term, so no need for declare anything.

Let me know if anyone has any question which i can help with. Wish you all the very best of luck!

Thanks for sharing all the details. Which movers did you use for sending your stuff? And is there any documentation needed to temporarily import our car.

My company hired a Canadian movers "Taylor Moving & Storage ". I asked the custom lady about temporarily importing my car, she said that we don't need to and if needed just tell anyone that you are here for short term and will take car back to US. I think it depends on the person you meet but i would suggest that complete all paperwork beforehand. I typed/printed B4 forms before leaving, though ended up not showing. Over the years if i have learned anything it is "when it comes to dealing with government agencies, more paperwork is always better"
