Work Permit for outland applicant in processing?

Trying to get my wife to work she is getting pretty depressed not being able to meet friends without a job or school does anyone know steps i can follow to get her a work permit while our application processes

I've been approved as a sponsor and they've received her application and medicals.

1) When did you apply? US apps *usually* go pretty fast.
2) Does she have a degree? What in?
3) Has she gone to school within the last 12 months and/or is under 30?
4) Do you have money to send her to school?
