hi everyone! hope this post finds you all well :)

have a work permit being processed for work until January 2011 (with the possibility of extension).

i also have a Provincial Nomination already from ALBERTA canada but have yet to file it to CIC bec waiting for FBI.

my question is: may i stay in canada when my work permit is over ... let's say in Feb 2011... while I wait for CIC's decision on my application (PNP via Alberta)?

Please let me know your thoughts... Am really a newbie and would like to find out more about Canada.

THANKS EVERYONE! :)

Hi Kamesh,

In my opinion, no. You cannot stay on an implied status if your application is being processes outside Canada. You only have implied status if your application is in process with in Canada. You have to renew your work permit before it expires. It is important to note that you have to apply before your current work permit expires otherwise you will loose status. After loosing status, you have to first apply for restoration of status and then for work permit...means additional dollars. you may be required to get an LMO (i mean your employer) if you want to renew your work permit under the same employer. If you are on open work permit, you have to find an employer to get LMO...because PR applications are processes outside canada except for family class and refugees...

hope this helps..

you might be able to change your status to visitor when your work permit expires... obviously that means you can't work in the meantime...

Thanks guys! I really have to make sure my work permit doesn't expire on me while waiting for PR result.

Thanks for the helpful info! :)
