I've been outside Canada for a while due to the issues around COVID19. I have a flight booked to return on Thursday 3rd September, and a work permit that is valid until September 30th. My current employer has extended my contract for a year, so I am going to submit the application to extend my permit very soon after I arrive in Canada. However, I've only now just realised that the Canadian government website states that you "need to apply at least 30 days before your current work permit expires." Will this then cause serious problems for me (since I'll be applying with ~27 days left on my permit)? Or is this merely strong advice due to processing times? The likely implied status isn't an issue, but not getting through the border on Thursday or issues with obtaining an extension at all will be more difficult to navigate.
Any experience or reassurance on this will be very much appreciated.
