Work permit extension processing time

Hello all,

I am in Canada on Temporary Resident Visa as a worker. My visa and work permit is supposed to be expired on March 31, 2015. I have applied for work permit extension on February 8, 2015 with the same employer's offer letter. On February 8, CIC website was showing 38 days in processing time, after few days website updated with 48 days instead of 38 days, and now it is showing 53 days. Why it is happening so and what does it mean?

Can anybody has information on the processing time criteria? I am afraid that there would be no decision and my visa and work permit will expire. Can anybody kindly suggest what should I do? Can I call CIC office, if yes at what number should I call? I called at +1 888 242 2100 multiple times but calls remain unattended. What should I do?

The criterion is one - the more applications they get the more time they need to process them.
As you had already applied you may continue working until the decision has been made.

Yes....they are taking too long! :'(. Can u please let me know in what form I shall get CIC's response. Will they send new work permit by email / by post?

This is not sounding good. If you'd applied in February and you still haven't received any response then I might change my mind. I did applied via the paper application last week in February and I'm now eligible to apply online and I've been thinking of cancelling my paper application to apply online if that will be faster but now I'm really confused......

Which way to go now? Stay with the paper application which was received last week in January of put in for an online application which I am hoping it'll be faster?

I think applying online is much better and faster than paper application though. I applied for work permit extension, due to changing of employers under LCP, last Dec 2014. I received my work permit Jan 2015

But I applied in early February of 2015, still there is no response!
