work permit extension - pregnant - X-Ray

Hi
I'm seeking any useful info/comments regarding the following situation.

My work permit expires end of august 2013. Already renewed it a couple times. My wife currently has an open work permit attached to mine. We are planning to extend our WP again but this time my wife will be the primary applicant and I 'll have an open WP since she's offered another 3 years contract. This is ideal for us because I'd like to look for another job.
But my wife is pregnant (due Jan 2014) and since she works in contact with children as a teacher she has to do a medical examination that includes chest X-Ray. Although some say that it is no big deal when you use a protective abdominal shield we'd like to avoid to do it. Even if we'd make the decision to go through the x-ray procedure I'm actually not sure clinics would allow us to do it.
Would anybody suggest we send the application without the X-ray and does anybody know if there is a chance our work permit can be renewed without the X-ray being done?
If application is not accepted or delayed until delivery and x-ray done, can we reapply with myself as a primary applicant if I find another job?
Any suggestion on how to minimize the possibility to have a period during which none of us would be allowed to work in Canada and we would not have health coverage?
Thanks you very much

Maybe I should mention that we are planning to apply to PR. Should we wait after the baby is born?

hello, we are almost on a similar situation. what happened to your application? here's our thing, my husband got an employer in alberta and we are about to apply for a spousal open work permit together with his application just so happened in unexpected manner we recently found out that I am 3mos pregnant so, we are now in a confuse stage wherein we'll be delaying my application or I shall proceed in applying the Open work permit later on or still proceed in submitting the application together with him. What happened to you and your wife's application? please update this will help me alot.

Ps. i am also worried about the X-ray thing as well.

@bertrand:

I believe your wife has to go thru the LMO process if you wish her proceed as the primary applicant. Her open work permit is dependent on the status of your work permit. If your work permit expires-- so does hers regardless of her contract.

It is highly recommended that you keep your current job and extend your work permits. She can then have the employer start the LMO process for her.

Do I need to tell to the visa officer when submitting my application for working permit that I am pregnant? Or I'll just wait for my medical. Thanks!
