Work Permit Extension or Study Permit

Hello Guys,
One of my friends is on work permit which is about to expire and her CRS is 455. Her work permit is about to expire. She is in a lot of stress and not able to decide whether she should apply for study permit or work permit extension. She is aware that it is less likely to get a work permit extension approved. She thinks that as the processing time is about 4 months she can try IELTS again or probably the draw will come down.

On what basis is she going to apply to extend her work permit? If she applies for an extension without qualifying for one, she will end up in Canada without status. She cannot apply for PR while out of status in Canada. Also - any work experience gained after her work permit expired will be classified as unauthorized work. She should not apply for a work permit extension unless she actually qualifies for one.
