Just received my OWP extension and thought I'd share my time line in case it's helpful for anyone

Application type: extension of OWP (issued under IEC - initial permit wasn't issued for full possible validity due to early-expiry of passport)
App received on: 17 September 2015
By: paper application
Permit issued: 06 January 2016
Permit received: 13 January 2016

Hey guys mine is spousal open work permit. I applied on 6th September. Blank update on 5th November. No approval yet. Today I had a talk with CIC agent. He is saying that cic inspectors are reviewing your file and working on it. You will get your work permit very soon
Did any one has experienced this thing? If yes please let me know after how many days u got your permit?

I applied online on September 4, work permit extension with the same employer. No news ever since. On December 26 their web site said that they were working on applications submitted on Sept 3. Yesterday, on January 2, their web site said they were working on applications submitted on August 12. Under the same category! This is the third time I catch them go back in time. I check the processing time table every single day. This time I even made screenshots. They say it's 120 days. Oh well, from August 12 till yesterday it was already 143 days. My work permit has already expired and I can only pray that they move fast and don't pick on my application as I'm on the implied status now.

Have you rcvd your wp extension approval?

Just checked the web site. september 19 - it's for a new employer, paper application. Mine is same employer, online. Still waiting...

hi guys i am new this forum.i am stuck somewhere.i applied my work permit on oct 3 2015 without the sinp nomination letter.after 15 days i got nomination so i applied (work permit)again on 29 oct 2015.now i got refusal letter for cic about my first work permit application and they give 90 days for restoration or leave the country.so my question is should i wait for my work permit which i applied on 29 oct 2015.or i need to start working on the restoration process.please guide me .i am waiting for your rply..thank u

I applied the owp extension under same employer on Oct 22, 2015. No news ever since. And the official processing time is updated as online application for 132 days instead of 120 days, right now cic is processing cases received on Aug 28, 2015. I think cic update their processing time last Friday.

i think cic is very mislead, because on their request they ask us not to apply for extension unless our current owp is going to expire in 4 month, but in the other hand, they need more than 4 month to process the application!!! This is absurd, if they need more than 4 month to process, then they'd better ask us to submit our extension earilier than 4 month!!!! They don't do their job right!!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Everybody should check out cic's website

Totally agree with your view...

I see lots of people being really upset with the processing times. And they all have a reason, their plans are getting screwed and nerves totally wasted. But has anybody seen ot heard about some sort of protest or a petition to the government? I know people protested in Montreal over spouse visa processing times. Have foreign workers or students tried something? Anyone knows? I don't mean that stones should be thrown at CIC officers. I believe the problem is not them. I think the problem is that there's too few of them for the volume of the applications received. And this problem could be solved by hiring and training more staff. The number of officers should be adequate to the amount of work that needs to be done. Otherwise it's just inhumane attitude towards us as well as towards them.

So after almost 150 days of waiting I receive an e-mail from CIC saying that my profile has been updated. I drop everything, rush to get my lap top, wait forever for the internet to connect and a browser to load (you know how it goes), finally open my profile just to find out that it's another empty update and nothing has changed. Application open, decision not started...
