You are most welcome. No, people generalize too many different things.

The only situation in which if you apply too soon (its still not 90 days - its more than 4 months away) is bridging open work permit, you would get a refusal.

Because the criteria of BOWP is laid out by CIC clearly. You are in Canada on some valid status, you currently have a PR application in process (now with new express entry system, you can just submit PR application along with BOWP) and your current permit is due to expire in less than 4 months. If any of above conditions is not fulfilled, you cannot apply for BOWP.

And of course above scenario applies to people with open work permits allowing them to work for any one.

There are many cases where an employee has a work permit tied to Employer A and valid for another 2 years. But he wants to work for Employer B so employer B gets him a new work permit. There are no constraints of time frame here.

Of course CIC has other restrictions e.g. The maximum duration of work permit status some one can have in Canada in a single go is 4 years. This means if you were issued a work permit for 3 years, you can only get another renewal for one year. After that you have to live outside of Canada for equal time (4 years) to be eligible for another work permit (hence temporary).

But NOC 0 and A jobs are exempted from above rule. Also any other situation such as SOWP or a BOWP (which your PR is in process) is exempted from above condition.

Hello guys
I recently got my Post Graduation Work Permit from border. I am accompanying my spouse here who is on OWP which is expiring in July. I am familiar with it that I need NOC 0,A,B level job with three pay stubs for her OWP extension. My question is can I get her OWP extended from border if i visit with all required documents. She is in medical condition and need her work permit extended for OHIP as only then she qualifies for it. Every suggestion will be appreciated.

One most important question...Will the weekly pay stubs work??
Regards

If you apply for the OWP before it expires, she will be on implied status and that should be enough for OHIP coverage, as far as I know.

Otherwise, yes, I believe you can flagpole for the OWP, and weekly pay stubs will work. You may run into an officer who refuses to process the OWP and asks you to file it properly, but that's the only real risk.

As in, the only real risk is that they will send you back home (to your home in Canada) and tell you to apply through the standard process. They won't deport you, or cancel your work permit or something drastic like that.
