Work Permit expiry right before PR confirmation.

Hello,

Today I received an email saying my PR application is almost complete and I need to send them my passport with a return envelope so they can give me a visa and a Confirmation of PR.

My work permit expires on 6th of February, and I was wondering if there are any documents I can supply my workplace so I can keep working until the PR is approved.

Usually if your work permit is about to expire and you apply for a new one, a confirmation of application is good enough to be able to continue working. What can I use in my case?

Did you apply for a new WP? If you did then why wouldn't the confirmation letter be good enough?

Just applied for a work permit extension. Pretty silly that I have to, basically $250 wasted.

The weird thing is, whenever I received my nomination certificate it had instructions for receiving a work permit extension which will last 2 years or the duration of the PR application. I followed those instructions but they only gave me a work permit that lasted just over a year.

You can likely get a refund for the WP application after you land. You just need implied status until then.

I am already in Canada, though. Applied for PR after working here for a year.

You still have to "land" when you become PR. My bf has been here for three years and will have to "land ". Landing isn't so much about physically being in Canada as it is about changing your status from temporary resident to permanent resident. You have to do this either by going to the border or by appointment (I am not sure where you make this appointment since we are close to a border crossing so our plan is to go for ashort drive when my bf gets COPR). The day you do this will be considered the day you "Land". Even though you are in Canada now you have not "landed" until you complete the prosses of PR by one of those methods.

Correct. You can ask for and get a refund for sure after landing.

And you do need to have valid work permit or be in implied status.

A bit pointless your question though, since you already will be on implied status because you already applied for a WP extension. So what does it matter the COPR ??? !!!
